Neon sign FAQ: ordering, UK delivery, warranty and care

Short answer: custom LED neon signs from Underneon start from €60. You get a free mock-up and a price in 1–2 working days, production takes 10–15 working days (from 5 on a rush order) and delivery to the UK takes 2–5 working days. Indoor signs come with a UK-plug power supply and fixings.

Prices and quotes

How much does a custom neon sign cost? From €60. The final price depends mostly on the size and how much neon the design needs, then on the build (Original or Economy), the backing, weatherproofing and your deadline. See neon sign prices in the UK for what changes the price.

Why are your prices in euros? Every sign is made in our own workshop in Daugavpils, in the EU, and shipped to you from there. Your quote states the exact price.

Is the quote and mock-up free? Yes. You get a mock-up at real scale and a firm price in 1–2 working days, and changes to the mock-up are free. Nothing goes into production until you approve it.

Can I get a sign made for a set budget? Yes. Tell us the budget and we will suggest a size, font and build that fit it. A smaller sign, a simpler font, fewer separate pieces and the Economy build all bring the price down.

Production and delivery to the UK

How long does it take from order to delivery? The mock-up takes 1–2 working days, production 10–15 working days after you approve it, and delivery to the UK 2–5 working days. In total that is usually 13–22 working days.

Can you make a sign faster? Yes, a rush order takes from 5 working days of production. Tell us your date when you first get in touch, whether it is an opening, a wedding or a trade show.

How is the sign delivered? By courier to your door, with a tracking number. Each sign is switched on and tested in the workshop and packed to protect the neon and the acrylic.

Do I pay import VAT or duty? The import terms for the UK are stated in your quote, so you know before you order.

What happens if the sign arrives damaged? Check the box in front of the courier. If it is damaged, note it with the courier and send us photos the same day; if the box looks fine, film the unboxing. With these we can deal with the claim quickly.

Power, plug and installation

What plug does the sign have? The power supply has a UK plug (Type G), so you do not need an adapter.

How do I hang it? Indoor signs come with wall fixings and a power supply. Most signs hang on standoffs screwed into the wall or on thin steel cables from the ceiling. The mock-up shows where the cable comes out, so you can plan the socket.

Can I dim it or change the colour? A dimmer with a remote is available for single-colour signs. RGB signs change colour from a remote or your phone.

Is LED neon safe and does it get hot? LED neon runs on low voltage, has no glass and barely gets warm, so it is safe for homes, bars and offices. Our signs use CE and RoHS compliant parts. More on the difference in LED neon vs glass neon.

Outdoor signs

Can a neon sign go outside? Yes, with weatherproofing. It adds 25% to the price and takes the Original build up to IP67 and Economy up to IP65. Without it, the sign is for indoor use, though behind a window it is fine.

Do I need permission for an outdoor sign? An illuminated sign on the outside of a building may need advertisement consent from your local council, especially in a conservation area. We can send a dimensioned mock-up for the application.

Warranty, lifespan and care

What warranty do I get? 2 years as standard, up to 5 years with All Inclusive Plus.

How long does LED neon last? 30,000–50,000 hours, which is around 8–10 years of use. See how long LED neon signs last.

What is the difference between Original and Economy? Original has even light, hidden wiring and a slimmer line; Economy costs less and suits short-term or bold, simple designs. The full comparison is in Original vs Economy LED neon.

How do I clean the sign? Switch it off and wipe the neon and the acrylic with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents or glass cleaner on the acrylic.

Ordering and payment

What do you need from me to start? Your wording or logo, a rough size, the colour and a photo of where the sign will hang. You can also build the sign in the sign designer and send it to us.

How do I pay? You pay a deposit to start production and the balance when the sign is ready, after we send you a photo of it switched on. Payment is by bank transfer, or by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay via a payment link.

Can the invoice be made out to my company? Yes. Send us the company name, address and registration number. For logo signs, see neon signs for business.

Can I return a custom sign? Custom signs are made to your design, so they cannot be returned for a change of mind. Manufacturing faults are covered by the warranty.
